JOE TORCHIA
BArrister & Solicitor
Born and raised in Kamloops, Joe graduated from South Kamloops Secondary School in 2012. Later that year, he began his studies at Thompson Rivers University, attaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2016 with a focus on English and Sociology. In June 2020, he received his Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University, Faculty of Law.
During his time in law school, Joe volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, Thompson Rivers University Chapter. Through this program, Joe was paired with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and was a part of their Volunteer Legal Advocacy Program (VLAP). He also continued his legal research over the summer months as a research assistant for two of his professors, where he was tasked with researching the topic of intellectual property rights, both domestically and internationally, as well as the topic of judicial ethics in Canada.
Throughout law school, Joe took many courses that centred around his interest in solicitor’s work, including wills, estates, real estate, and commercial law. He plans to continue down this road and looks forward to serving the community in these areas of practice.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring Kamloops and the surrounding area, as well as travelling to new and exciting places. He is excited to be able to continue to live and work in Kamloops, the community that he proudly calls home.
